Greetings everyone!

I have thought a lot over the past few days as to what I should write for my first blog post. What has been on my mind more than anything is the array of emotions I have felt since my debut poetry book ‘Time and Love Blurs All’ has been published.

My mom was the first person to read my book, and she said, “Wow some of them are so deep. So very sad. So raw to the bone.” Others congratulated me, sending me pictures of their order confirmations. One girl even sent me a picture of her crying after she read some of my poems.

I wrote each and every one of those poems from the bottom of my soul. I wrote them to get through hard times. I poured my joy and pain, victories and hardships on the page. I will admit it is a really scary thing to share that type of writing with the world. I am a rather private individual; I don’t share all my feelings and events in my life with the world or even my closest friends sometimes.

That was not the case in writing this book. My soul was bare for everyone to see. What would people say? What would they think of me? I have never been one to care about people’s opinions of me, but as a normally private individual it doesn’t make it any less daunting to share my deepest thoughts and open myself up for criticism.

I spent a lot of time writing my announcement post on my personal Facebook page. I figuratively held my breath for a while after I posted. What happened next nearly brought tears to my eyes. I was flooded with an overwhelming display of love and congratulations. The amount of support I received blew my mind.

I am currently being interviewed by another blogger about my writing. One of the questions was:

My reply:

Yes, it has been very exciting to log onto my KDP Amazon Publishing account and see the numbers on the graph go up as people purchased my book. However, nothing can compare to the love and support I have received throughout this process.

I have been writing for over fifteen years, and I am just know a published author. While I wish that I had accomplished this years ago, now that I have broken through the surface I am so excited to see what is to come.

I am already writing my second volume of poetry, ‘Break Free My Heart — Musings of an Emancipated Soul’. I can’t wait to share this journey with you all.

My debut poetry book ‘Time and Love Blurs All’ is available here

With love,

Marissa (AKA, The Real Rissa)
